Join our team!

We are always looking for people who have, or are willing to learn, backcountry search and rescue skills. We accept applications through May 31st each year because training starts in July. Training classes meet the first 3 Tuesdays of every month at 6pm for 2 to 3 hours at our Steamboat Springs location.
Being on SAR is a serious commitment. We are an all-volunteer team. Basic training consists of: attending at least 10 training classes, passing a background check, getting a CPR certification, providing your own gear, and passing several skill assessments. Active team members are on call 24/7, and are required to attend at least 16 training classes per year, and go on at least 25% of our missions. (We have approximately 50-60 missions per year.)
Interested in joining?
Applicant must be 21 years or older, have a valid CO drivers license, be a full-time Routt County resident, have a basic CPR certification, pass a background check, be available most Tuesday nights for training, and have a desire to drop everything and go help a stranger having a bad time in the middle of the woods at a moments notice. (and it will probably be off trail, at night, very cold, and raining or snowing!)
